Volunteer Spotlight: Beth Collins

Beth Collins, a local Anderson resident has found joy in her volunteer work with the LOT. Collins and her family serve the friends of the LOT every Tuesday by handing out meals and clothing items, but these simple acts of kindness go beyond the surface.

“It’s not just about giving a meal,” said Collins. “It’s way more.”

Through her service, Collins builds relationships with the friends who visit the LOT allowing her to offer her time and talent to further assist them. As a high school teacher, educating comes naturally to her, and she uses her gift of teaching to help a friend develop their reading skills.

Collins believes in the LOT’s mission because all people are valuable, and all people need basic necessities.

“God asks us to serve others. I am extremely blessed in my life, so whatever I can give back is my mission, my duty, my goal,” said Collins.

Collins is intentional with the connections she creates. Her family visits a local restaurant that a friend from the LOT works at to support them and deepen the relationship they have formed. She also shares books with a friend that enjoys reading.

Every Tuesday, something new touches her heart. The LOT is a blessing in her life, and she is thankful for the community of love and support that the organization cultivates in the local community.
